The Meaning of Love
Love is the by far the most powerful word on the universe. For God is Love and without his everlasting love for us, we would not exist. Everyone is born with the innate ability to love and the desire to be loved.
Love has so many different meanings and often misused for "like" or mistaken for all different kinds of lusts that exist all around us today. You so often here in our day to day dialogues declarations such as " I love everybody" or "I love her because she's beautiful." Is it "Love or Lust" may be my topic for discussion in the up coming months. Basically there are three types of love. Philo love is a more brotherly love and is a reciprocal form of love. Agape love is a divine love and most powerful. It expects nothing in return and has no conditions. Eros love is more erotic and sexual love.
Love in a relationship has an unspoken meaning that is deep and is felt with the heart. It is an unconditional intimate love of trust and honesty which is so deep it cannot be measured. After being with the love of my life for the past 28 years and married for over 26 of those years, I can feel his thoughts, needs, wants and desires without him uttering a single word. This type or depth of love can only come with time.
Love can also mean putting your own wants and desires on hold in order to help fulfill the needs of someone else. This often happens in many relationships and marriages today, mainly because no two people are the same. It may take putting your dreams on hold for awhile in order to help assist with the dreams of another.
Love is also having patience with the "love of your life". We all know and have heard the Bible verse that states in I Cor 13: "Love is patience, Love is Kind. It has no envy, nor it boast itself and is never proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered. It keeps no records of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
Love cannot be described by a single word or feeling or emotion, but can go beyond our wildest comprehension. Deep romantic love can only be shared and felt by two people. It is intense and could possibly be the most sought after type of love today. Perhaps the perfect "recipe" for deep romantic love could be a combination of all three types of love, agape, philo, and Eros. ~
